Over the past few years, I’ve met and known a number of people who have less than pleasant notions associated with Houston ingrained their heads. I’ve never been able to figure out why, but I came across this video and decided to repost it. It does a nice job at depicting the different parts of town and things to do.
For those more interested in the economics and business side of Houston, this Newsweek article should do it.

I, too, hated the idea of living in Texas, despite having family that live out here, especially since I lived in Florida!
I found that the people of Houston, not the tourism, are what make living in Houston worthwhile (except for the guy who stole my laptop… the dogs of karma are hunting his ass down). The people of Houston are unique in a very great way and the friends I’ve made out here in such a short period of time are second to none. If my kids didn’t live here and I had the opportunity to move back to Florida, it would actually hurt now to rip myself away from so many great people. And while a lot of what people outside of Houston say and think about Houston is true, there’s a lot they fail to see or understand, too. But nobody here really cares what the outside world thinks and I LOVE that.

Laban, that was one of the most refreshing comments ever! I think I’ll be making frequent references to it when the topic of moving to Houston comes up. =)
